carrot fly and green mesh cloche from Wilkinsons

have never grown carrots before, so how big are carrot fly please?  Will a green mesh cloche from Wilkinsons be sufficient for protection or are the holes in it big enough to let the flies through?

The density of the mesh looks ok but the size is a bit of a problem. Our carrots can grow anything up to 18" at the least. They will grow with stunted leaves but we prefer to give them a bit of room. We use enviromesh but the green builders stuff is just as good
