is it an iris ?
sanity is overated

Sinbad7

LOL, thank you Neil:)

Sinbad7

I don't think it is an Iris, the leaves are very long and thin and have flopped over but the main stalk feels really solid.

Thanks macmac.

probably have to wait till it flowers, theres a hundred plants with leaves like that.
Nothing is ever as it seems. With appropriate equations I can prove this.

LOL macmac the label says Dahlia and I know it's not that.

A friend suggested agapanthus  but couldn't imagine what I'd be doing with them.

I'm not sure I'm a pampas grass person and I can't imagine me putting it in a pot when I've got a lottie to plant it on.  Also I seem to have quite a few of these in different pots about the patio.

Thanks though for the suggestion Bugloss

Bugloss2009

neither am I.  I thought it had just "appeared" in your pot  ;)

Georgie

Very hard to say but it could be one of the Allium family, maybe Purple Sensation this early?  It's not Agapanthus tho'.

As I seem to have so many of them Bugloss I think I might have planted something  ;D

Thanks for that Georgie.

tricia

They look like self-seeded Spanish bluebells to me - I've been pulling them out all over my garden! I could be wrong, though  :).
