spuds in tubs

Hi i found 3 tubs at work today they are 12''wide x15''deep.
iv washed and put holes in bottom,how many spuds can i put in each one, the spuds are swift.

Probably just the one - 12" is normally the planting distance for earlies but you could try two in one of them..

15" deep is quite deep, with a small modern early (Mimi maybe?) you'd probably be OK with a couple in there as long as they had space for the top growth to go sideways a bit from the pot, otherwise probably best off with one. Given how deep it is you should be OK with most potato types in it but avoid the ones with really large top growth, mostly older heirlooms like Pink FIr Apple

I went a bit mad buying seed potatoes this year so I have thrown some in just big flowerpots, with loads of manure added. I figure even if I only get a few small ones it is better than the seeds going to waste!

In the potato planters they tell you to put in 5, which I did but they're not 12" apart.

Think those potato bag planting kit thingys are a bit optimistic perhaps. My sister used one last year with five in each small bag and got a really small yield.

I grew spuds in builders buckets last year and while yields and the spuds were small, I still got a couple of meals out of each.

I would say one is about right for that size of tub, I am growing spuds in assorted tubs this year, some in flower buckets one per bucket.
