so me and our lass went round and had a peep aboutand i sussed one  that looks so rough is unreal plot 55 and 55aso i gets on to the phone to the lass again ( i think she sick of me already )ans i say ok how about 55 and 55 a she says no way its sumones alreadythey got it in feb and paid till next yr double grrrrrr  i told her about the state of it and she says ill send em a letter to tidy it then she goes hang on a sec we have done big smiles now :) she went to look at it and phoned me saying she has sent an eviction order out to em and i can probs have it in six weeks and a day
now believe me when i say its rough  it about seven foot high with brambles and a massive plot (about 25 paces wide by three times that long but given the chance im going to take it oni know its going to be a lot of hard work and im not going to get it all done at once  i have been reading posts on here for ages and its a beaut site for info and the amont of new ppl on here is greatno one feels like a stranger for long i have grand plans for my plot in later times lol up here  in middlesbrough u can seem to do wotever u like with ur site this site is almost like a shanty town lol  sheds  porta cabins pigeon lofts ducks chickens geese the works looks like organised caos its surronded by 8 foot spiked fanceing locked gates and everything  there is a shop tool hire running water all over oh ye and the lass said i can have it rent free for a yr to get it sorted and even offered to send council in to flatten and rotovate it for me  he he( i guess its right  wot they say the squeeky wheel gets the grease)any how i better post this  befor it becomes a hobby in itself  ill keep ye all post

Welcome Sly and congratulations.
Good luck with your new lottie, you are now officially an allotmenteer, join the club and let us know how things are going.
Good luck.

Hi Sly!  Hope things go straightforward for you and you do get the plots in a few weeks.  Personally I'd rather do without the rotavating - spreads weed seeds I think but no doubt you'll make your own decision about that, and others will probably disagree with me anyway! ::)

Enjoy the hard work in front of you - sounds a great site with the livestock an' all!!
Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.

Sly, hi and welcome.

It'll be hard work, but worth it in the end. If you hand dig, it's good for your fitness :-) Nice to spend time at the plot with your partner digging, and generally enjoying the outdoors too.

Good luck, don't forget to take before and after photos so you can see how much progress you've made. Keep us posted  :D
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

Hi Sly
Nice to meet you!
The council rotavated our plot at the beginning of this year. It did make it easier to get in a spade (heavy clay) but it does tend to increase the perennial weeds by chopping up the roots! Still, we're getting there - thats me and 10 year old son - and you will too!
All the best
Helen

Hi Sly,

You sound really chuffed and excited!  Looking forward to hearing about all your successes and the inevitable battle of the brambles...

yeah I dug the "concrete soil" rotivated and put on 120 bags mush compo and more manure and then the weeds came back >:( 6 of one and half dozen of the other but as the plot hadn`t been used for 5 years and we knew nothing! we dug and roti`d. bad for weeds but helped the back! still with all that much compo the weeds were easy to pull even if there were millions of them. good luck...

I have been clearing my large plot since July ,nearly finished :) I just dig an hour at a time . It was full of weeds so rotavating was out !

Lots of work but i am enjoying it ,Hope to get and do an hour this morning depends on asthma ( been playing up a bit !)
