strawberry plants

Hi,

A neighbouring allotmeteer has given me strawberry cuttings, which I've planted before xmas and put lots of rotted manure on. They're small plants and I want to ensure I've got some strawberries in summer...when can I buy some bigger plants that will give me some fruit...and what's the best variety please?
