Whereabouts are you? And what sort of peas?

Broad beans might be OK, but I'd try to cloche them. Peas will be OK if they're round-seeded, but not if they're wrinkled.

Personally, here in sub-tropical London, I'm waiting a few more weeks before I put beans out. (I normally plant in modules on February 1st and plant out March 1st, give or take a few days.)

try to hold back until march or at least until latest frosts in your area.

broad beans will be ok but if cold frosts hit they can be stunted in growth and later planted beans of peas will overtake than.
many thanks.

If that is you e-mail address. I'd change you  A4A Id ASAP. Also Id remove your email address from your A4A details.

Whilst 99.9999999993% of people are friendly and helpfull, it only takes 1 you make your life a misery.

All of us on A4A hide behind anonymous Ids - its much safer that way. Only once you know who your dealing with, should you give out personal details.

PS. hello and welcome.  :)

Pesky Wabbit in view of what you're suggesting Darrell should do then shouldn't you remove his email address from your comment!

As most of us know American weather takes about 10 days to get across the pond.

They are due/having some severe snowy, frosty weather and because of that I am holding back.

The weather has gone very cold and probably too cold to plant. Not that the plants wont survive but the time it will take them to recover will mean that later plantings will actually get to be ahead.

So I am waiting.

I've been trying to remember what I did last year, as mine -sown in pots and then grown on in a placcy greenhouse thingy - are about an inch high now. I'm growing Aquadulce and Douce de Provence. So I checked my diary for last year and the ones I sowed in pots late Nov, and left outside I planted out in mid Feb, they were about 4 to 6 inches high. Had a great crop, and not bothered by blackfly. This year I was later in sowing the beans, so I'll give it a couple of more weeks until the plants in pots are a bit bigger and stronger. I also have some indoors (as I thought the ones outside hadn't germinated!!) so I'll have to harden those off

Hope this is making sense!!
