Do you mean Quicktime Hyacinth.  Real Player is something else and not made by Apple.
Peronally I'd download http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html - VLC media player - plays just about everything.
Quicktime download is here..

Sorry, yes I meant Quicktime - and that's what I tried to load before I lost the will to live. :-\

Meant to add: if I download your other link, that won't interfere with my RealPlayer set-up?

Apple video files are .mov, MS video files are .avi (and ne'er the twain shall meet, except on Linux).

To be serious, MS will not use .mov files. The codecs are different, even in Linux we have to load both codecs if we want to use both types. It's particularly annoying with camera's as there are several more types.

if quicktime wont install you can use this alternative instead.

Windows media player is perfectly capable of playing .mov files once quicktime or quicktime alternative is installed. Alternately you can install the 3ivx codec although you have to pay for that whereas quicktime is free.

VLC is a much better media player in my opinion but that is a separate issue. Installing VLC will not interfere with any other media players you have installed.
