The switched main live is generally a single black wire and this is connected to the brown wire(s) on the fitting. On a wall light this should be a single red wire. The neutral is generally two black wires and these are connected to the blue wire(s). On a wall light this should be a single black wire. The mains earth wire(s) must be connected to all green/yellow wire(s) or earth terminal on the fitting. When completed ensure that there are no bare or loose strands of wire exposed, and cover all exposed areas of terminal blocks with insulation tape."The switched main live is generally a single black wire and this is connected to the brown wire(s) on the fitting. I will give one last go with butternut squash before giving up the ghost on it forever.

I also have to give one of my beds to OH for flower growing.  Usually I just buy plug plants for home and do all gardening on my todd as she has never bothered.  As I have worked away most of the year she has been pleased with her efforts with flowers at home this year and wants to expand her gardening ways........

I am growing 50 or so different crops this year and hope to increase that next year.  I propose to shove them in the ground, feed, weed and water and hope for the best.  Some will hopefully do well and some will be a disaster area.

I think I am having a deja vu.  Haven't you started this thread before PL.

No I don't think so!

Its just some 'live wire' shedding 'some light' on this thread!

Back to the thread;

My year will be pretty much the same as previous years, i.e. more of the same!

Why change a relatively successful habit?

I have ordered my compost & manure, and I have worked out what I need in the way of seeds I will require.

Will get my winter digging done then go into hibernation for two or three months!

My one and only big change will be to put clear plastic shelter over most of the tomatoes after seeing what that did to prevent blight. The three that were covered this season are producing well and may survive a frost or two. The uncovered ones lost too many leaves.

I won't list everything either - personally I can't absorb all that information, when people list everything they do or want to do. But I love to list everything to myself, and spend ages drawing and re-drawing all the beds.

I think perhaps the biggest change I would like to make is to get more manure in than last year. I think that if I can improve the soil, I'll get better crops, which can also cope better with drought. My squash weren't great this year, so maybe they'll do better with better soil.

That's my main hope for next year.

What about you plainleaf?

Usually I go through what has been a failure and rethink on how I can improve things. I already placed a order for next year with Kings on the veg that did well, I`ll wait until the catalogue pop through the door to decide on what else I`ll grow.
