Can anybody give me a recipe for pickled gherkins.
Thanks

I pickle cornichons (which I think may be the same as gherkins) by just pouring hot spiced vinegar over washed ones in jars. Make sure lid is vinegar proof, or put layer of waxed paper between lid and jar. Seems to work OK.

is that it,seems very easy,do you put the lids on when the vinegar is hot still?
when the going gets tough, the tough go digging

Experimental recipe for this year:
1/3rd cup water
2/3rd cup white vinegar
2 flat teaspoons sugar
1 flat teaspoon mustard seeds
1 flat teaspoon dried dill
1lb jamjar of gherkins salted for three days

water sugar and vinegar into a suacepan and get to boil. Once it does add the gherkins and bring back to the boil. Turn off. Meanwhile fill jar with boiling water and put thye lid in boiling water too. Once gherkins have boiled empty the water out of jamjar, pack the gherkins in the jar with a spoon cos they're hot, add the mustard and dill and pour over the vinegar mix. seal with the lid....

Found that well chilling the gherkins before adding the vinegar helps keep them crisp.
