I'll have to look up the timings Rekellah... but they were ready by the Open Day on 6th June so were transplnated about then. Did a dozen but only 5 took. Been in the big greenhouse border ever since. Never managed to get beyond seed leaves before..  :-X

Lovely, aubergines are a big favourite in our house so will def grow some next year, can you only grow them in the greenhouse? Basil looks really good and the okra is huge, only tried it in curry, never cooked with it though.  :)

i have never gotten them beyond seed leaves either, i grew 7 successfully till transplant then only one survived :-\. it has given me an ochro about the size of my pinky finger ::). but it has now leafed up beautifully and has quite a few flower buds on it but its not very tall about 15 inches ::) but maybe it will give me a few more.

what variety are you growing it looks like it has a reddish tinge to its colouring.

by the way did i say i was so jealous.

Variety was something like "Burgundy Red"...
Despite the wettest July on record Lushy we have our best ever Aubergine crop (in another greenhouse!) If you are in the Deep South you may be able to grow them outside. People on here have managed it... I've seen them doing well outside, in the Dordogne...  ;D

I'm not as far south as the Dordogne and I grow mine outside.

OK so i wish you all would just stop it!!! not only can i not succeed with ochros but aubergines are seriously trying to wind me up as well, every year i try to grow them outdoors and fail abysmally. this year not only did they get put outside but i also built a custom made mini greenhouse around them, so they could get the best of both worlds. i had an extra plant and gave it to my neighbour to grow in his greenhouse but under the strict instructions not to succeed if i was failing or appear to be failing, today he told me with the biggest grin he could muster (the old bugger) that he have three young fruit on his plant. and what do i have ..... bugger all >:(.

BTW - I'm in a similar position, gave a plant to a friend, and yes its producing fruit, but in a greenhouse  :-X

The Yacon are about three feet tall too, and the sweet potatoes are making a bid for world domination. I lost one of the Water Melon Plants, but there are two on the other one swelling nicely...  ::)

I lost my only watermelon and only have a cantaloupe left.  It has 2 fruit also swelling nicely although the plant doesn't look all that good.  I planted the melons in a hotbed and I think there was a huge ants nest in it that undermined the roots  >:( :'(.  The watermelon had a lot of fruit setting on it before it turned it's toes up  :(

I'm afraid I'm also having a bumper aubergine year, the Mohican white ones have gone mad with about 6 fruits per plant, and the long purple have fewer fruits but are an impressive length for a change.

As for melons....well, I think one plant has one melon set! About par for the course for me...... ::) :-\
