I did mine yesterday - you can tell which are the old canes as they are brown and quite brittle - next years canes are still green.  Cut as close to the ground as possible.  Give a balanced feed and stand back :D

so if i cut off all the brown ones and leave the green they should be ok yes?

Works for me.  Also, in the spring if you take the top 6" off of each cane, it encourages each cane to put out side shoots and more fruit.

I grow mainly Autumn Bliss and they're even easier you just wait untill Jan/Feb and cut the whole lot down as they fruit on growth made the same year.I'm picking some fruits as big as strawberries :o
I only grow the summer fruiting to get a few earlies

ah well now i dont know what type they are but guessing that they have already fruited they are probably a summer variety

Then pruning out fruited canes now leaving new canes to fruit next year is right

I'm an Autumn Bliss fan myself, for exactly that reason. As MacMac says if they've finished cut out the ones that have fruited..  :)
