Hi, I have three gojo berry plants that I planted this march as small plants, they are now tied to a cane and approx. 5ft. tall. I want to grow them as a bush but wondering when to prune and how far down to prune them? Has anyone any info please as in my area nobody has even heard of them.

I was pleased you had asked this because I wanted to know the answer. mine look gangly too.

Seems no one knows the answer though.

Maybe we should cut back half.

I am also keen on any info about goji berries.  Grew them from seed.  They are about three feet high.  I decided to nip out the growing tip to get them to bush out.  Started with a couple of plants, but liked the effect so did the rest, since they grew more from the base of the plant.

There were quite a few thread in the past, had hoped that some of these would be baring fruit by now.  I would very much like an update?

Not sure whether to water them.  Everytime we get a bit of rain they put on a growing spurt.

Will they get the dreaded potato/tomato blight?

I am growing Goji Berries, 14 plants from seed. Some I have left to grow and trined them along the fence, the rest I kept pinching out growing tips once they had reach about a metre, I do not expect any fruit until next year (3rd year). All look very healthy and the growth has been vigorous.

What a drag I had hoped for something next year.  Mine are metre high buses already.

Here's my bit of experience with Goji plants: about 2 years ago I started some off from dried goji berries (didn't bother to buy the expensive seeds but cut open the berries and scraped out the seeds), which worked very well. The seedlings were kept in pots indoors for the duration of the first winter, then in early spring the first lot had to go out, as there wasn't enough space indoors, and in the summer the other pots went out, and all of them left to their own devices. Half of them were slug-eaten, some others were washed away in the torrential rains. During the past winter 3 plants survived in large pots on the veranda, but 2 died in the late spring frost. The last remaining plant is ca. 70 cm tall after a good trim, shed all its leaves, and grew them back in May. So, out it went in the soil between my fruit trees and bushes, and although it is a relative of the solanum I don't expect it to be susceptible to blight, which we had last year in our immediate vicinity.
According to the very useful American website (from Arizona I think) which I am trying to find again, after the first cold winter outside, the plants are frosthardy, and tough, can be pruned, and after some 3 to 5 years will grow into vigorous, decidious bushes or trees (over 2 metres). They don't seem to need any special treatment.
