Bull Running

Just been reading that there have been more gorings during the bull running in Spain. I don't want to seem callous but surely if you are going to take part in such a barbaric and dangerous past-time then you get what you deserve? I can't believe anyone thinks that running along with a huge, dangerous, terrified animal is a good idea.
