How far down do they go?  Later in the year I want to move my raspberries and was thinking about putting scaffolding boards or similar in the ground around them to contain them to one area... would they be deep enough?

I have found that different varieties go down different depths. One of mine goes about 10 inches, the other about 6 inches.

Scaffold board will probably contain most of the suckers.

Thanks.  I don't know what variety... I inherited them from the previous plotter... I only know they're summer fruiting, which probably doesn't narrow it down that much lol.

i need a screen at the top fo my plot

would it work??

Yes it would work for about 8 months of the year when the leaves are on. The rest of the year it would be bare canes. Autumn ones dont grow so high and you would get even less hedge with them cos you have to cut them right down in the spring
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Try red currants, they work well on one of our plots which is on the perimeter, they grow quite tall too.
