I though ti might be a good idea to grow beans in buckets so that when it gets cold they can be brought inside of extend the season by a few weeks.  When do you think it would be a good time to sow them, and how many plants per bucket.  Any other tips/advice very welcome.  Tesco curarently have nice big black ones for three for £3.

Morrisons sell the black flower buckets 8 for a £1.  I have my dwarf beans in them and some tomatoes but the dwarf beans are no longer dwarf, and the tomatoes will have to go up to the allotment when we get some rain.  Give it a try, you have nothing to lose, don't put too many seeds/plants in like I did.

Got to go near morrisons on Sunday will ask about the buckets.

Quotedon't put too many seeds/plants in like I
How many was too many.

Growing some beans from Heritage Seed Library and also Ying Yang and they are both proving to be huge plants.  Planted them far too close.  Both varieties put up two huge green radar dishes which tracked the sun and then a huge plant is now developing, They would require a bucket each.

Another excuse to try out my new digital camera, will go and take a photo and you will see that I have too many coming up.  Planted them in rows at the allotment, and at different times and that seems to be OK apart from the black fly.  I have a tendency to plant everything too close and can't believe how quickly and how big things grow.

I think the black flower buckets are sold fairly quickly so they may not have them but certainly ask.  My OH drilled a few holes in the bottom for me.  This is the picture of my beans, no beans yet.

Quotefly.  I have a tendency to plant everything too

I plant everything with a shoe horn.  My paths are now almost totally covered with plants.  I usually give Dwarf beans a trowel length but these mega varieties need about twice that.  Dwarf does not describe them well.
