Thanks Georgie. Do they need to be in the cool. They are packeted but I've lost the info. Black ones as I love black flowers.

Outside should be fine.  I always start mine off in a semi shaded place but that's instinct, not instruction!   :)

Do the slugs get at them?  I have lots of seed but always forget to sow them at the right time, thanks for reminding me.

They don't seem to be a problem with the plants but they are usually in baskets. This will be the fist time i've grown from seed.

 Forgive a basic (stupid :-[) question from a usual non-flower growing person, but...'Winter Flowering Pansies' and the Other Sort which flowers in the summer - different strains/different seeds?
