It is getting a little late for second early and maincrop varieties, but first early potatoes are not photosensitive and will crop when the plants are sufficiently developed throughout summer and autumn, so you can carry on planting first earlies, just as you would sowing early peas and carrots, right through the summer, although those planted after August may require protection by the time they are ready to crop
