sick chicken

my mate has a chicken that has the following symptoms weight loss listlessness black beak cant pick its food up and seems to have trouble opening an eye . Any ideas what this may be ?

That's what I'd do. A sick bird would be in the stock pot so quick you wouldn't believe it.

Poor chicken ...don't know anything about chickens but I'd try to help it along the way.
I certainly wpuldn't eat anything that was sick.
