As disgusting as his behaviour was, free board & lodgings for the 30 or so days he'll serve, at a cost of £1,000 a week to the taxpayer, sounds like he (the perp) got a result! I'd much prefer to see a few hundred hours community service for cases like this. Beach cleaning, litter picking, something like that would do something useful & to people like this be a worse punishment.

My nephew was over from NZ and living in London a few years ago and one day on the Tube a guy started peeing on a woman's suitcase just as the train came into a station so just before the doors closed again my nephew got up and pushed him out.
