How high do I let my potatoes go before I earth them up

Gobby

I usually let mine get to 8 inches or so, but being male it could be less.........

I earthed mine up last week because the mounds were shrinking and levelling off.  No foilage is showing as yet though.

If I'm having a particularly lazy year.... I don't always bother.   :-\

Usually put the soil into a peak when I plant.....................

Uncle Joshua

I never get this earthing up...

I fill my trench with manure, add the spuds then mound up all the earth I removed and thats it, my dad did it that way as did his dad before him and his dad before him and none of us ever had a problem, why do a job twice when once will do?

saddad

I also mound over the spuds when putting in and rarely earth up... just showing through now. If we get a frost warning I will.  :)

cornykev

I earth up as they pop through the ground then every 4/5 inches, normaly with grass cutting, leaves or council compost.  ;D ;D ;D.
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.
