Moved into my new flat with garden in November and have spent the last few months getting the garden in order, still struggling with roots (from Snowberries), any suggestions welcome?  My friend has already suggested dynamite!

My lawn has been sadly neglected whilst I have been clearing borders, putting in raised beds etc., etc., we've all been there?

I have had my head turned by the mulching mowers (fickle female), as featured in this month's Gardeners World magazine and, as finances won't permit, and to be fair the size of lawn doesn't justify a mulching mower I wondered if I could get the same effect with a strimmer?  There is plenty of grass in there amongst the docks, buttercups and clover, but could do with some t.l.c. so any suggestions, as organic as possible, would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the site SilverApple, Dynamite isn't a bad idea for a snowberry. I don't do grass, but I'm sure someone will be able to help...

HI SilverApple, I also don't really do grass, can think of better things to do than mow, but thats just me being fickle! Anyhoo, I have a strimmer and have been using it on my grass for a couple of years (eventually plan to get rid of the weedy green patch) and can't see how a strimmer would mulch. So I think the answer to your question is no a strimmer won't do the same.

I had a patch of snowberry which has been under a large areage of black plastic for the last couple of years. I assume it's dead, but I haven't dared to look in case it needs a stake through its heart!

Silly question time !!whats snowberry??
If it ain't broke don't fix it !!

An invasive ornamental; it's all over my site, having originally been introduced for hedging. It makes a lousy hedge.
