Early Onward Peas - how tall will they grow?

I am planning to sow my Early Onward peas this weekend, but can't find anything definitive about how high they grow.  Most of the seed suppliers say 2ft, but a thread last year had some at 4 feet tall.   ???

I've never grown them before so would appreciate some advice on how high to make the supports - probably canes with pea netting / string as I don't have any twiggy sticks on hand.  Any other advice would also be welcome.

Mine tend towards the taller end about 3.5 feet and are very productive.  Enjoy ;D ;D

I use pig wire (the wire fencing used to enclose fields), its about 4ft tall and the onwards peas I grew last year just managed to grow about 6 inches over the top. the height of the peas depends on the condition of the soil ie :- moisture content retention

As powerspade says moisture (at the roots) seems to be the deciding factor with most peas... I grow tall heritage ones and some years they top out at 5' others at 8'+  :-\

I have heavy soil which retains moisture very well, so will aim for about 4ft high.

Fingers crossed ... I am definitely on my L plates with peas!
