I was wondering does a Honda 4 Stroke rotivator use normal engine oil that cars use, as I have found out today that the one I use has ran out of oil... so I am hopping I have not done any damage to the engine.

Yep
Ours is a Honda 4-stroke (FG100), and the manual recommends 10W-30
