some very lovely person on here sent me a grape vine cutting and i really thought at the end of the winter i would have to report that i had managed to kill it, but it is shooting away beautifully so thank you very much.
i know i will have to harden it off to be able to have it outside for the summer but will i be able to leave it out over winter (i have no greenhouse)
thanks in advance for the advice  :)

I have a grape vine from a cutting that I got. It is in a bucket and was growing very well last year. but so far not a peep out of it and it has been in the greenhouse over winter out of the away. I hope mine has not popped its clogs.

My cutting came from my Dads plant and his is left out over winter (in the ground) and comes back every year no problems at all

I took around 30 vine cuttings last Nov/Dec and still no sign of budding yet.  Is it too early - I am hoping I get at least a couple of cuttings to grow!

I think it is a bit early to see any new shoots, mine certainly hasn't started to show signs of new life yet.

ok! of the 30 odd cuttings I have taken I reckon I can discern 3 cuttings starting to bud!  One pot in particular I have over wintered in my 'lean-to' area to keep the frost off but moved into the lounge window sill about 3 weeks ago and one bud in particular is swelling on a daily basis and I can see green shoots - pleasing!  I'll try and get a photo for you - or is that sad?

By the way, this load of cuttings was taken by just pushing a 3-bud cutting into compost in nov/Dec (without any rooting hormone).

Nah! I think it's great.
Mines outside in a pot so that explains why I'm not expecting anything yet.

Checked on it yesterday and the new shoots / buds are now showing through. really pleased as it was outside and uncovered!
