Hi Archiesdad - reminds me of arecent conversation with my mum.  Since my dad died I've been keeping an eye on things for her & been coaching her in the things dad always owned, including banking.

She rang me to say that someone had rung & said he was from the bank & could she come in for a chat.  Mum said " I didn't tell him anything in case it was one of those phone calls you warned me about, but I know him anyway, he works in the bank & I play bowls with his mum".

Priceless!

Well, I wanted to buy a carpet in Singapore last year (first ever visit), but I had not told my bank that I was there, so a friend who HAD told her Uk bank where she was going offered to pay for it.

Her card was refused, mine went through. It's a bit hit and miss.
