We've had the black buckits, but now I shall start the blue trays thread. I asked the local greengrocer how much he wanted for the blue plastic fruit trays. The seed tray sized ones that stack.

Nothing he said, How many do you want?, how many have you got I asked. Hundreds he said, The council charge me to dump them.

So I backed the truck up to their back door and loaded at least 300.

As I need to grow 5m2 of camomile lawn for a show these will be ideal for growing and transplanting. The rest of them make  good windbreaks stacked on the nursery plots.

You must be surrounded by nice shopkeepers.  I have stopped asking now as I keep getting snubbed by "we need them", "we throw them away", "they are very sought after" etc.  When you consider how much I USED to spend in the shops before the snub!!  got the feeling that if they thought I wanted it, then it must have been worth something.

I get all mine from my local Aldi's recycling bins, and not just  those light blue trays either...got light blue ones, dark blue ones, light green ones, dark green ones.... Proppa treat they look  too, interspersed with the freebie black bukkits ;) ;D

I got some green ones thrown in, so I chucked them out. (bio-degradable) ;)

The blue trays quickly get brittle and can snap in your hands when loaded with pots. Try to get the black ones that come from Spain as they are much stronger. Also they have enclosed hand holes at each end which allows two trays to be positioned end to end and easily carried with one hand. This permits 4 loaded trays to be carried with ease.

spot-on about the inferiority of the blue ones! 8) Particularly the light blue ones. I've dumped back at Aldi's a few of those.  Yep, black is best (trays and bukkits ;)) but the black trays with the handholds also come in green anorl.
