Which is best?

We have recently taken on a 1/2 plot & are wondering which would be best to use, organic chicken manure pellets or farmyard manure which is not well rotted. Apparantly the man who delivers to our site  only has fresh & the man on the next plot said it won't scorch if we dig a trench & put it in. What is the  general opinion on this matter. I thought it had to be well rotted. Isn't it confusing, or is it just me?

Manure is supposed to be at least 6 months old to avoid scorching, but if you dig it in and do not use the ground for about 3 months it is OK.

I remember a real old guy with affection, we used to work on a Barley beef farm, he would look for fresh muck from a particular part of the bedded yard (barley straw) it was orange in colour, and smelt very fruity, almost like oranges, he put it underneath his tomatoes(variety not known), the best toms I had, and ever will have. I used to eat his toms when they were still green to orange, so basically use fresh for toms, watering will dilute the muck down any way
