Dithering about getting ex bats this weekend! Counting my chickens etc!!

Hi - need someone sensible to tell me I'm being silly or not!!

Have chicken house, run ready and waiting up the lottie - have 24 eggs hatching this weekend!

Have 2 ex bats running round garden at home - just seen the website and notice they have vacancies this weekend for exbats!   Suddenly can't wait for my babies to grow up and start laying - 6 months or so.

I will not obviously keep all 20 or however successfully manage to hatch as some will be cockerells so potentially 10 max. I suppose that they could all get up really close and personal up the lottie - but can't have any more at home?  What shall I do?

Tought one !!
I would not have chooks up the lottie again as it means you have to go up there every day twice a day !! all weathers and when you go away you have to trust someone to look after them, i was always worried about the fox as there where so many on the site!
I love having the girls at home (we lost little penny today  :'( )
But having said all that giving the ex bats even a few months in the sunshine is sooo worth it :)

Glad to hear you're thinking of getting some more - as long as the security has been uppped it must be worth a go.  I would tell everyone around you that you are getting them and maybe they can all keep eyes and ears open for anyone hanging around - the more eyes the better really!  How about erecting a "CCTV installed" - type sign - it might put the thugs off trying - especially if they are young!
