Thinking about buying a Chevrolet Matiz

Well I've had my Fiesta Classic for 11 years now and I think it may be on its way out, so I think I will have to break into the piggy bank ( he says counting his pennies ). Saturday we went into a ford showroom and then a chevrolet one, the OH's got her eye on this chevrolet matiz, she will only drive a small car and she is the main user and uses it for work and tesco (sorry) shopping so its just a runaround car needed before all you 4 wheel petrol guzzling roadys start slagging it off. We don't do many miles at all so we think it's ideal, anyone heard of these cars, have one or know anyone who has one. If I told you how many miles weve done in the 11 years weve had it from new you wouldn't believe me, in fact a free packet of seeds to the nearest guesser might be in order, Jesus I'm giving things away now, whats happening to me GOD I HATE SPENDING MONEY, it must be the yid in me.   ;D ;D ;D

I know a couple who have one (the Daiwoo version) as their second car & they love it. On long journeys they'll pitch up in the "Mat" with the bass bin booming... Leaving the 3 series at home!

Mind you, I once hired one in Inverness & drove up north & it was a complete pile of poo in the Highlands!

I'm thinking of selling the Scooby if you're interested. They drive pretty much the same as each other!

I had a V reg Daewoo Matiz as my first car and I LOVED it!  Boot space is pants quite frankly.  But it's economical, really easy to park cos it's so small and low on insurance and tax.  Downside is parts will obviously be more expensive and it's quite light, so driving down a motorway in high winds is a big no no!  Can be a bit tricky if you get stuck on motorway between 2 large lorries too.  But if it's just for round and about driving then I'd definitely recommend it.
What I lack in ability and experience, I make up for in sheer enthusiasm!!!

Cheap and cheerful, and why not. Shop around mate, you might get it for less than £5,000. Must be very cheap to insure. It would really feck up a chavs street cred if he nicked it. ;)

No more info then, cheers for that Ace I think, test drive Saturday. :-\     ;D ;D ;D

If it helps, have been told that Ford garages will accept any reasonable offer for a car at the mo...

Edit... Doh!, just occurred to me you weren't looking for a Ford....  I'll get me coat.

It makes them wonder what you are up to.

Two or three years ago my cousin had a Pontiac. I don't where he got it but it was new. Maybe his brother bought it for him in the States and shipped it over. He used to use it for long distance hospital runs, Norwich to Papworth and back.  It's the only one I've seen since 1946.

Good for you Kev.  I am pleased for you. I only wish I had the nerve to drive around in one ;D

OllieC

Good for you Kev, that sweet sound of all 3 cylinders giving it yeeha up a hill...

What colour did you get then?

cornykev

We went for pearl black Ollie, all jokes aside its quite nippy, the other half will drive it most of the time as I walk to work, I was dubious at first but its more or less the same as any other small car, as posie said the boot is small but only need it for shopping, we bearly do motorways so will never get in Aces way, to get an idea of our mileage my fiesta which I had for 10.5 years had under 42,000 on the clock, so it will suit our needs and you know how the old saying goes if you can't fight drive a big car.  ;D ;D ;D

Avast! there me hearties, Kev has started dressing up as Capt. Jack Sparrow and naming his new motor The Black Pearl, formerly known as the Wicked Wench.

When he starts shouting 'where's me buccineers'  we all shout back 'on yer buccin head'
