How about a savings account, never to young to start :)
Thank you for the suggestion.  However, I gave the parents cheques to open a savings account for the children in August 2007 when they were Christened.  They were never cashed, despite constant reminders!

and little girls are still little, and if she's a girly girl, some sparkly jewellery and a musical jewellery box to keep it in 8)
Thanks for this suggestion too but she already has plenty of these things.

How about this Gourd.  It grows into shapes of Swans,  Russian Dolls,  and Snakes.  Buy the paint for when they are grown.  Once grown she can paint them.  I have just ordered the snakes for my son and dolls version for my daughter.
I like these and think the children will love them.  They wouldn't survive at their house though but they can plant them here where I can keep an eye on them.  I have seen the swan ones before but never the snake and doll ones.  I will put in my order now.

What about a chain bracelet she can put charms on. silver or gold depending on the budget, then each year you can add to it..special occasions can be catered for too, charms come in all possible shapes and types and there is always one that suits the day.

I had  a silver one as a baby which got very full, had to add links to it as I grew, then my Dad bought me a heavy gold one on my 21st. it  also full now and I love to bring them out and remember which one each was for .

The ballet shoes when I did my first concert, the Dr's bag when my first baby came. The plane when I emigrated etc.

Just a thought.

Best present I bought for my godchild at that age.

A skipping rope and spending time on teaching her the skipping games.
