My goddaughter took her young boys out for the day at the beach.  As it was a  hot day she used sun protection cream and being boys  and because they helped rub  it on themselves they put their hands on the car doors in several places.  These handprints refuse to come off even with professional valeting.   My reaction was what on earth does it do to your skin.  Any of you physicists out there have an explanation or cleaning tip.

I'm half of a Physicist and decided that it's basically Gloss paint!!!

Yes we have handprints on our car from suncream and the previous one as well.....oh and the almost brand new sofa when my toddler got the bottle and squeezed some on his hands and ran straight to it putting little handprints all over...it's broken and gone to the dump now and the toddler is over 6 ft. No it doesn't come off but skin cancer is very nasty.

It's oil based, WD40, petrol, a soda crystal solution or neat washing up liquid should remove the stains.

Perhaps turps too? Paint stripper works on oil based products but there is the obvious disadvantage when using it on your car...  :P

I bought a magic sponge from Aldi & it is just that. It gets marks off walls & paintwork & all sorts of things. My granddaughter drew with a biro on some woodwork & it got that of.
