I am getting ready to store some apples in cardboard boxes with dividers.
Is it a good idea to wash the apples in a solution of baby feeding bottle sterilising liquid ?(sodium hyporclorite solution). I was thinking of one tablespoon to 4 pts of water, the recommended strength for wiping down baby toys and things, and kitchen surfaces.
This might reduce the amount of apples going mouldy while in storage.
The apples would be allowed to dry off before being stored.

Jeannine uses a mild bleach solution on her squash... I would want to rinse them before drying and storing...  :-\

What ever way you do it, still check them regularly. Some things do manage to 'burrow in'. They seem to rot from the inside out.
