MINI DIGGER

I'm thinking about hiring a mini digger to take the top of the grass off my lottie then using it to scoop up to make raised beds.  I have easy access to my site so it wouldnt be too much trouble to get one in there! Otherwise i'm going to be up there for weeks taking the top off!

Thanks Piggy, I know i sound impatient but we are trying for a baby at the moment and i dont want things at the lottie to grind to a halt because i have to wait around for men to help me with digging and stuff.  I want to get the site all ready so that when it comes to next spring i can just get out there and do my thing. its close enough to me that it could be my backgarden, so keeping the weeds down wont be a problem just getting started (as with every plot) is the the frustrating part.

          if you hire a mini digger ask for one of the wide buckets which are used for removing top soil amongst other things rather than a bucket that is used for footings you will do the job in half the time :)

Having driven various types of plant in the past if I was closer I would come and drive the digger for you :)

Great idea KLCG, go for it.  Hope you don't come across clay though as you don't want that to grow in, well nothing will grow if you bring that up.

Get advice on what you want to do. I never realised how critical it is to have the right sized digger for the job it has to do.

My next door neighbour is a partner in an road surfacing firm which owns and hires diggers. He had a four ton digger with which he removed two acres of trees and bushes, but he couldn't remove the roots with it, so he traded it in for an eight ton Hitachi digger. There's only so much that a mini digger can do, you realise that when you see a four tonner tipping forward with the weight.
