Bloody Raspberries!

Plot69

I'm sick to death with bloody raspberries. It's not the 30 jars of jam, not the raspberries and cream, not raspberries with porridge,  not with cornflakes, not with bran flakes or any of the other flakes my wife deems it necessary to put them on... It's picking the bloody things!

I'm picking over 4lb every other day, have been for the past two weeks and my back is killing me. I hate waste so I've been inviting other raspberryless plot holders to pick their own which they're more than happy to do. I've got two 15 foot rows and there doesn't seem to be an end in sight. Next year I'm going to build a fruit cage around them and I'm going to fill it full of birds and not let them out till Christmas.

And my autumn Fall Gold, of which I have twice as many, haven't started yet! These I'm looking forward to, The taste is a lot stronger and half as sweet as a red one, I personally prefer them. And the novelty of bright yellow jam never ceases to amaze.

It's just picking the bloody things!

I've picked around 20 tonnes of Strawberries & Raspberries (having worked on a fruit farm for 5 summers), so sympathise a bit. That hurt! And no, you don't get used to it. I actually have a slight limp from shuffling along on my right foot so much. You could always get yourself a pole!

i think i like it here :D now who can tell me how to grow my own chocolate???

Plot69

They're Autumn fruiting Fall Gold. I bought them half price from Elton Hall garden center last year. Being bright yellow rather than red they're not to everyones taste.

I only bought ten canes last spring but they have multiplied beyond all belief. I will certainly need to thin them out when they're finished, Lord only knows how many I'll get next year if I don't.
