can any one identify the following plant from the attached pictures, got given it as comfrey but doesnt look like the other comfrey i have

tartonterro

Rhubarb Thrasher

it's a polygonum of some sort - bistort or snakeweed, or one of the ornamental species

valmarg

I would say it is certainly a member of the polygonum family, commonly known as Redshank (Polygonum maculosa) 'A weed'.

Definitely not comfrey.

At least you were 'given it' as comfrey, but I should pull it all out and and bin it.

o well at least the comfrey roots i got have taken well - might see if i can get some more seed off my own plants
thanks for that folks

PurpleHeather

IT IS A WEED.

Our allotments are full of the blooming stuff.

It very quickly flowers and seeds, get rid of it as soon as you see it, burn it.

Adding it to the compost means more.

tartonterro

snipped off, cut up and will be burnt tomorrow - thank god i didnt plant it in garden lol

Hi it looks like Polygonum persicaria, an annual weed, also known as redshank, willow weed, red legs, Christs-a-bleeding, and Arsesmart.

The person who gave it to you was misled or not being nice ;D

tartonterro

think more than likely missled or it was in with the right seeds that didnt germinate as it was someone from a4a that sent me the seeds
