Hi there allotmenters!!!

How was May for you peeps?

Was it good, bad or indifferent? The weather right or wrong, your crop sowings right or wrong.

Here at lottieblogs was mixed to be fair, either the weather blew our new greenhouse down, or rabbits are desimating every brassica under the sun. However the fruit is coming on lovely and i havent seen germination success like it. Everything in came up. Marvelous

Here is a link to our May woes : - http://lottieblogs.co.uk/may2008.aspx

Let me know your thoughts for the site and your May successes or woes?

Regards

Fairly successful after a slow start in April. I had a lot of germination problems and had to fill in gaps with later sowings.

I have recorded every minute spent on the allotment and the weight of produce and dates of picking.

I spent exactly 40 hours on the plot in May and harvested 6.08 Kg of produce.

Last year it was 2.57Kg so things are improving although the first strawberries were 2 weeks later on 2nd June.

I cant really say I harvested much in May other than salad leaf.  It seemed to be a bit behind up here in Scotland.

Potatoes back by around 2 weeks.

Amazin

Was it in May we had that really hot week? (seems so long ago now...)
I'd been looking forward to the weather improving so I could really get on at the plot and happened to be off work that week - and it was too hot for me! Still, haven't been troubled by that problem since. It seems to have been cloudy for weeks - not much rain though, just precious little sunshine.
