Hi there, I had some really healthy young strawberry plants before the recent awful weather, now 3 seem to be dying  :'( they are going brown & dry looking despite the continuing wetness here in Kent.
Could all the heavy rain have caused this problem?
Im abit confused by them looking dried out  :-\     any advice please? Thanks

Hi, I don't know the answer as to why it's happening, but I have had a similar problem with my strawberries. They were planted this year and 1 or 2 of the 4 I planted in each tub have died off. I was planning on replacing them with runners from the remaining plants ready for next year.

Maybe they are too wet?  Probably worth uprooting one and having a look at their roots to see whether they have rotted or you have an ants nest causing havoc or they are just determined to die!

I bought some new strawberry plants a couple of monthst ago and the ones I put in the ground are really sad looking.

Now the ones in containers are looking great and producing some quite large fruit.

My containers are large and half full with polystyrene chips and then multi purpose compost on top.

Beat me to it mr.  They would be my favourites.  Strawberries do seem to be their favourites in the 'edible' plant world.

Thanks for all the suggestions I will have a good look at their roots.
Luckily the surviving plants are producing lots of runners so I will be able to replace the dead ones soon

Hi everyone well the roots seemed fine & no sign of any nasty critters but alot of bindweed wrapped around them under the mambrane...could the bindweed strangle them ?  :o
