I have a supermarket pot of chives (sorry!) which is flowering nicely, will I be able to save seeds from it, and if so how?

why bother, chive seeds cost 29p a pack and chives can be separated and repotted.

They come up every year

Cut hard back every June for a fresh crop.

They reseed easily, I am amazed that people buy them... large pots 50p last weekend must have sold at least twenty!

Some people like saving their own seed.

One way would be to leave the flowers until they are papery dry, cut them with long stems and store them in a paper bag upside down for a while. Another and easier way is to plunge the pot in a larger tub then next year you hoik out the seedlings at your leisure.

Thanks Eristic, am not a cheapskate, just thought it might be fun to do!
