Pole beans up fencing?

Has anyone ever grown pole beans up chicken wire fencing? Is there any reason why this would not be a good idea? We have a newly fenced area and I was thinking about growing some Romano pole beans up this chicken wire fence.

Grannie I have grown beans up just about anything I can get my hands on over the years, garden fences, trees, sides of sheds other plants etc etc, so as long as they have support to scamble up they grow.

Have grown beans up fenching here, also snow peas and cucumbers. Have grown squash up the stouter type of plastic covered diamond shaped wire fencing, also blackberries.

I grow peas up netting; I see no reason not to do the same with beans. It'll need to be staked well because of the wind resistence in a gale.

So long as the beans have something to twist round they will grow up anything. They have a tight grip and could strangle other plants.

Pleas note:

Peas etc cling with tendrils Beans twist round. The form of climbing differs.

Thank you for the quick responses. They've sprouted indoors but the temp tonite will be dipping close to freezing so guess I'll be babysitting them awhile yet except for a few sacrificial beans I'll try outside.
