Planted a few rows of peas and it seems that a few have been dug up.

Could this be caused by birds or mice?

They were planted quite deeply (2") and the transplants have not been effected at all. They are growing really strong.

Sown 6 tubs of extra just incase the rest on the plot are eaten.

Mice love peas............try putting a few holly branches over them :)

I've lost a lot the same way, and I think birds were the problem. as soon as I started putting cloches over them, the robberies stopped.

Many have mine have gone missing, and as they are under glass it is def. mice!

Great idea, I have a holly bush in my garden that needs pruned!  ;)

If a rat can get through a 1" hole imagine what a mouse or vole can get through i honestly dont believe Holly will work. I think chicken wire may be better if you intend putting the pea straight into the ground.
I dont have this problem using guttering.

keef

Spray over the soild with a little watered down Jeys fluid - it over powers the smell of the pea's so they dont konw there in the ground (or that the theory anyway...)

I virtually never sow peas in situ at this time of year as the mice will always get them - it is so much easier sowing in trays (and covered to stop the mice getting them) - later on is ok as the mice will be eating other things by then  :D

Fork

Sow and cover with fleece held down on all sides with bricks or something equally heavy.....the mice wont get them then.

Remove the fleece when the peas are about an inch high and then do what you would normally do with nets or stakes etc.

Went into the poly tunnel today and my son had planted 6 pots of sweet corn and 6 pots of peas last week....nice little holes made in the soil of each and the seeds removed and chewed....I put it down to mice as the wooden door isn't a tight fit...outside they are doing better but a pair of weasels are in the area.

The mice that got my Peabeans won't be hungry ever again........
