My wife is "coeliac" and is bored with the usual gluten free things she eats.

Does anyone have any favourite gluten free recipes they would like to share please?

Not too sure about the gluten content of rice flour, semolina, arrowroot and corn starch.

A lot of Far East Recipes use these because they do not grow wheat. If she can tolerate a little baking powder added to rice flour then this work as a substitute. We had a lot of steamed puddings and noodles in Northern Thailand made purely from rice flour.

My big tip is to thicken with instant potato. The cheap packs from ASDA  can go into many sweet and savoury dishes. Just sprinkle it, dry, into soups and even gravy when they are hot and look a little thin. I always keep a pack open, folded over and held together with a plastic clothes peg in the cupboard and use it for instant thickening.

One cheap recipe idea is to cook all the stalks from a cauliflower and/or  broccoli in about a pint of water with a vegetable stock cube when soft blend until smooth with a stick blender add about half a pint of milk and thicken with instant mash.

As a lot of people throw away the stalks from cauliflower and broccoli it costs very little to make and takes about 10 minutes to cook.
