My wife bought a HP printer for her laptop. Since installing it, it keeps crashing her internet connection. This never happened with our Lexmark. The only reason we changed was because of the lack of availability getting the lexmark cartridge yet it's only 10 months old. The HP works well on other PCs no problems. The laptop operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.

Microsoft have said because it was pre-installed we had to go to the laptop manufacturer. If they give email support response it will cost £46!

Any ideas......

we have a similar problem with our new (2 weeks) Epson printer. IE7 gets shut down, and the problem is associated with the epson Web-to-Page software, which i'll probably uninstall if it gets a pain. Maybe you could try removing those extra cr@p HP utilities that came with the basic printer software, one by one to try and cure it. Control Panel tell we I have 15 Epson progs

I'd uninstall the printer and all associated software then plug the printer in and then search the Cd for the drivers only.

Or after dumping all the stuff that came with it, plug the printer in, boot-up and let your 'puter look for 'Added Hardware'.

possibly a very daft question but .. are you sure that you have a Vista-compatible driver for your HP printer. If not, you can always download the latest Vista compatible driver from HP's web site.
