Quick question if I may.

Re: The shark fin seeds you so kindly sent me.

How much space should I allow per plant?

Do they bush or grow long like pumpkins?

How many on average can I expect per plant?

OK, that's a few questions but I'm growing a lot of squash type fruit this year and I'm in the planning and space allocation stage at the moment.

Many thanks.

They are very vigorous, and are a trailing variety. I grew mine at the base of sweetcorn last year, and they covered all the ground nicely and did not seem to affect the growth of the corn. They produce quite a lot of tendrils and will also climb....one at home grew up my variegated beech tree and the fruits were hanging down like watermelon decorations!

I planted mine about 4 feet apart, they send out several branches and will cover ground quite quickly once established. I got between two and four melons per plant, all about the size of basketballs.
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Thank you Deb, that covers it nicely. I've got plenty of space now that I've taken a third plot on so I'll put about 5 plants in.

Many thanks, I'll keep you posted of their progress.

They taste more squash like than fruit , very good in noodle soup but one melon will make as awful lot of soup! I still have a few seeds that I have saved from last year, PM me your address details and I'll send you a few.
