Leeks and onions are occasionally attacked by the Onion Fly, ... the flies are attracted to the smell of fresh manure.

Define "Fresh"?

I think you can smell fresh manure. Well rotted manure is very very dark with little or no smell to it...well maybe a bit *Earthy*
