Its surprising how much paraffin they use on long cold nights. And that's a very expensive commodity nowadays especially if you can remember when it was two bob for a gallon. It can now be up to £4 for a gallon.

Rosyred

How many days does £4 last you??

RobinOfTheHood

About a week unless it's turned up full.

In my case at least.
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

Sometimes less than a week if its exceptionally cold like last week. And then you are wondering what time to light the heater and whether to switch it off or not during the day. It can get expensive.

Tee Gee

And what ever you do do not buy industrial grade paraffin (its cheaper) unless you want to kill off all your plants because of the noxious fumes it produces.

Good heating goes hand in hand with good insulation. Check all round for cracked glass, gaps and badly fitting doors/windows. Bubble wrap makes a good insulation material. Don't water with ice cold water. Use tap water and let it stand indoors for a day.
