I was in my local Wilco, thinking it was about time I got some spuds chitting.

I picked up a bag of Rocket and headed for the checkout. On the way I passed the sweetie counter, with its weighing machine, and well ... just thought ...

What was labelled as 3Kg came up as only 2.78 Kg, so I went back for another bag ... 2.81 Kg, and then another, 2.79Kg. Hmmmmmmmm.

I went to customer services and explained.

First, they said they didn't have any instore scales, I suggested they did.
Then they said, "Oh, they're not calibrated for potatoes."  ? ? ?

Then they point out that 3kg is the packing weight.

Are they selling low weights and measures (6% low)?

What do your 3Kg bags weigh ?  Have you bought any bags that are not full weight at point of sale ?

If any shop sells goods by weight they HAVE to provide a scale according to the weights and measures act, If a shop sells under weight then they can be summonsed. They can however get out of it if the said goods are marked up with a note to say weight when packed

COMPLAIN - send an email to Wilko head office - you can bet your life they will send you a goodwill gift voucher and a covering letter - I complain about everything and anything and have a nice collection of gift vouchers that I save up for Christmas LOL  I have £55 worth of vouchers so far this year (yes it is only Fenruary) from companies who I was "very dissapointed" with.
Infact I am delighted when I find a valid reason to complain LOL

WHERE THERE'S BLAIM THERE'S A CLAIM!!!!!  SO COMPLAIN!!!!!!!

Very interesting. It's possible that the weight is the packaged weight & they have lost water... sounds like quite a bit though! I thought it was alright if they're within 10%. Or do they have to average out at the labeled weight?

Wouldn't bother me personally...
