Chicken Manure

I have been advised that chicken manure is excellant to use.  I hve manged to get a lot of it mixed with straw.  Now all this going on in the news about bird flu has got me worried.  I have put the bird poop in my compost bin to rot down, now shoudl I be worried if its got somethign wrong with it or when it rots down will it break down everything.  THe person I got it from has given it to many people and I have not heard any issues about it but its just me being paranoid

I have been advised that chicken manure is excellant to use.

Dried poultry manure is high in nitrogen and potash.

I have manged to get a lot of it mixed with straw. 

Put it on the compost heap in layers it will help the other products in your heap to rot down.

Put some in a string/hessian bag and immerse it in your water barrel and you will make a good liquid fertiliser.

Now all this going on in the news about bird flu has got me worried. 

Providing you do not breathe in the dust you should be OK
