As most of you know ive just about finished my potting shed/greenhouse
My question/dilema is do i put staging in front of the glass ?about halfway up, giving me a good 3 foot under and over the staging ,

Tomatoes on top , peppers underneath etc,

Or just use the floor and let em run high, i will be using 12 inch or there about tubs ,

Hope someones ...been there done that... and can advise

I would definately plant the mature tom plants out into tubs on the floor as they need plenty of room to grow upwards and putting them on top of your staging would only give them 3/4 feet to grow

…unless you're growing determinate varieties, which are programmed to stop growing at a certain height. I can't remember the varieties offhand but a search will soon tell you.

Geoff.
You can't please all of the people all of the time, but you can't upset them all at once either.

definitely on the floor unless there bush. we had them on staging last year but had to move everything when they started banging there heads on the roof so easier to start on the floor.

That's what I did last year, and will probably do again.

Looks nice and sturdy.

I've built modular staging which I can move in during the autumn for over-wintering stuff, and move out during the summer to act as outdoor plant stands while I grow the tomatoes on the floor.
