My black plastic is down..ideas anyone

Our 2 rolls of heavy black plastic are now completely covering lottie 2 which was wrecked last year by floods then turned into a jungle.

Can anyone give me any idea how long to leave it there to ensure the weeds etc will be dead including the roots.

I don't want to plant through it.

Will it take all of this year..more...or less.

Any chance for using the ground this season do you think
