Alien - or anyone - my other half has got himself a paper shredder and we now have bags of shredded A4 to get rid of. Am I ok to stick it in the compost bin and use it as a mulch?
For myself I am an optimist - it does not seem to be much use being anything else.

I do - by the hundredweight!

As a mulch, that is.   :)
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

my ex father in law said put shredded paper in when the bin has grass cuttings in.  Keeps the bin aired!.

Sorry to go back to the previous bit of the thread, but I'm blown away by the origami pots.

I've just spent two days collecting bits of old plastic from the next part of my plot I'm clearing.  I'm half way to committing myself not to bringing any plastic onto the plot if I can possibly avoid it.  Paper pots are definitely the way forward for my seedlings this year!

After a couple of false starts, I've just converted the motoring section and now for sport, business............

Exactly what I've done!! isn't it funny to see Clarkson's face and his expensive cars turned into little pots.
I've even had a photo of the Queen on the side of one of them!

Save the paper to add to the bottom of your bean/potato trenches. It will rot down lovely during the season.

Sorry to seem stick in the mud about the A4 / office paper in the compost not being as organic of ethical as we like to think - I work for the d**n paper industry   :'( and am over-sensitized to its dubious practices, so just ignore me...  >:( :-X
I do agree the newspaper pots are a serious alternative to plastic ones, and doing origami at work is just so therapeutic.

In my ignorance I was obviously preaching to the converted here.

I particularly like the folded pots suggested by Miniroots, as I was wondering where I would find the room to store the pots until they are used  !!   I will give them a go.

Is it just me ?   I go to all lengths to save coppers on the necessities of life, only to be extravagant in other areas.   I know I steamed an unused stamp off an envelope when I posted my holiday booking to India.  Very weird.

Well back to the folding.
